How to succeed with your 2019 goals

Hello, welcome to my first post of 2019! I know my hiatus went on longer then I intended but, life happened. This is why it is so important to plan your content, batch and be prepared. If only I followed my own advice? I’ll just add it to my list of lifestyle changes I’m implementing in 2019.  This leads into my topic for today, how to succeed with your 2019 goals or resolutions!

First, I’d like to congratulate you on surviving the longest (or what’s felt like the longest) January of the 21st century.  If you’ve kept up with your resolutions, you’re already ahead of the game. I lost track of my personal goals somewhere around the 4095th day.  However, today is a new day, in a new month, and a new fresh start to getting back on track.

Making a Roadmap

How do you get back on track?  Start by writing out your goals and breaking it down, how to achieve them. You can write a list down on your phone, in your journal or make a vision board. Personally, having a physical reminder holds me accountable to following the plan I have laid out.

Take Action

The easy part was writing out goals, but figuring out how to achieve them can be overwhelming. Here is your challenge, do one task daily that brings your closer your goal. This could be waking up early to prepare for your day, cutting out the sugar in your coffee or going for evening walks. Anything you can do daily to start will help shift your mindset to wanting to stay committed, everyday won’t be a success but there’s always tomorrow to try again.

Report Card

Review your progress weekly, daily or monthly and grade yourself. Did you push yourself to trying your best? Did you feel like you could have done it differently? Reviewing your progress and making adjustments will allow you to achieve your goals faster.

Failure is How You Grow

Sometime you just have bad days and your priorities slip. That’s ok, failure is how we learn and gives us the motivation to strive harder. Allowing yourself to have breaks for mental clarity and to reevaluate your needs is so important. Don’t be too hard yourself if you take longer then expected to achieve your dreams, there’s always tomorrow! Let me know what some of your goals in the comments and how you’re going to hold yourself accountable to achieving it!
